Shopify Flow integration
Read time: 6 minutes. Who it's for: Merchants who want to automate around quotes — notify a team, tag customers, or update a quote — without writing code.
⚠️ Triggers (QuotWay events that start a Flow workflow) require the Professional plan or higher. Actions (steps Flow runs back in QuotWay) require Enterprise. These are your QuotWay plan tiers and are independent of your Shopify plan — Flow itself is free on every paid Shopify plan. See Plans, trial, and billing.
What you can do
Shopify Flow is Shopify's no-code automation tool (trigger → condition → action). QuotWay plugs into it two ways:
- Triggers — a QuotWay quote event starts your Flow workflow.
- Actions — a Flow workflow makes a change in QuotWay.
You also get a set of one-click starter templates in Flow's template library.
Prerequisites
- Install the free Shopify Flow app on your store.
- Have QuotWay installed (Professional+ for triggers, Enterprise for actions).
Triggers (QuotWay → Flow)
Pick any of these as the first step of a workflow:
| Trigger | Fires when |
|---|---|
| Quote submitted | A buyer submits a new quote request |
| Quote proposal sent | You send a proposal to the buyer |
| Quote countered | The buyer counters the proposal |
| Quote accepted | The buyer accepts (carries Acceptance type: full/partial) |
| Quote declined | A quote is declined |
| Quote expired | A quote lapses past its expiry |
| Quote converted | A quote becomes a (draft) order |
| Quote approval requested / granted / rejected | An approval is needed / granted / rejected (carries Approval kind) |
Every trigger carries useful fields — Quote number, Status, Total amount, Currency code, the Customer, and a Quote admin url deep link — so you can add conditions (e.g. Total amount ≥ 5,000) and pass details into downstream steps.
Actions (Flow → QuotWay)
Use these as steps in any workflow (Enterprise):
- Update quote status — move a quote to In review, Declined, or Expired.
- Assign quote to staff — assign a quote to a staff member by email.
- Send quote notification — post a message to the quote thread and email the buyer.
Actions run through QuotWay's normal rules, so they can't put a quote into an invalid state.
Set up a workflow
- In Shopify, open Flow → Create workflow.
- Select trigger → search QuotWay and pick an event (e.g. Quote accepted).
- (Optional) Add a condition on a field like Total amount.
- Add an action — a Shopify action (Slack, email, customer tags) and/or a QuotWay action.
- Turn on workflow.
Starter templates
In Flow's template library, search QuotWay for ready-made workflows you can install in one click, such as Slack alert on a high-value quote, Tag the customer when a quote is accepted, and Notify an approver when a quote needs approval. Customize and turn them on.
Good to know
- Workflows run after the quote event is safely recorded, so automation never slows down quoting.
- QuotWay only sends references (customer/order IDs) and summary fields to Flow — never card or secret data.
- If you downgrade below the required plan, triggers stop firing and actions return a friendly "upgrade required" message in the workflow.
