Collect a deposit at checkout
Ask for part-payment up front. Set a deposit percentage on the proposal - right next to payment terms - and when the accepted quote converts, the deposit rides the draft order so Shopify checkout collects it natively. Shopify computes the exact due-now/due-later split; the balance follows the quote's payment terms (“50% down, balance Net 30” - the standard structure for custom and high-value work).
- The deposit is a negotiable term - the buyer can counter the percentage (or propose none), fully versioned
- The split shows at Calculate, on the converted order, and on the buyer's quote, account view, and PDFs
- Automation can require a deposit automatically; approvals can gate a lowered or waived one
