Automate your quote workflow with Shopify Flow

QuotWay plugs into Shopify Flow two ways: quote events start your Flow workflows, and Flow steps can act back on a quote. Notify a channel on a high-value quote, tag the customer when one is accepted, or update a quote’s status automatically - all in Shopify’s free, no-code automation tool. Triggers are on Professional and up; actions are on Enterprise.

Two ways QuotWay works with Flow

Shopify Flow is Shopify’s no-code automation tool - every workflow is a trigger → condition → action chain. QuotWay connects to it from both ends, so the events in your quote pipeline can drive automation, and your automation can drive the pipeline back. Flow itself is free on every paid Shopify plan.

  • Triggers (QuotWay → Flow) - a quote event starts your workflow. Professional and up
  • Actions (Flow → QuotWay) - a workflow step makes a change in QuotWay. Enterprise
  • Starter templates - one-click example workflows in Flow’s template library to copy and customize

Professional+

Triggers - start a workflow on a quote event

Pick a QuotWay event as the first step of any Flow workflow. Each trigger carries the quote’s details, so you can add conditions and pass data into the steps that follow.

QuotWay Shopify Flow triggers and when they fire
TriggerFires when
Quote submittedA buyer submits a new quote request
Quote proposal sentYou send a proposal to the buyer
Quote counteredThe buyer counters the proposal
Quote acceptedThe buyer accepts (carries the acceptance type - full or partial)
Quote declinedA quote is declined
Quote expiredA quote lapses past its expiry date
Quote convertedA quote becomes a Shopify draft order
Quote approval requested / granted / rejectedAn approval is needed, granted, or rejected

Every trigger carries the quote number, status, total amount, currency code, the customer, and a quote admin link - so a condition like “total amount ≥ 5,000” routes only the deals you mean, and downstream steps (Slack, email, customer tags) get the details they need.

Enterprise

Actions - let Flow act on a quote

Use a QuotWay action as a step in any workflow to make a change back in QuotWay. Actions run through QuotWay’s normal rules, so a workflow can never put a quote into an invalid state. On a plan below Enterprise, a QuotWay action returns a friendly “upgrade required” message in the workflow instead of running.

  • Update quote status - move a quote to In review, Declined, or Expired
  • Assign quote to staff - assign a quote to a team member by email
  • Send quote notification - post a message to the quote thread and email the buyer

Starter templates

Don’t start from a blank canvas. In Flow’s template library, search QuotWay for ready-made workflows you can install in one click, then customize and turn on.

  • Slack alert on a high-value quote - when a quote is submitted over a threshold you set
  • Tag the customer when a quote is accepted
  • Notify an approver when a quote needs approval
  • Email your team when a new quote is submitted, and more

Connect a workflow in five steps

Workflows run after the quote event is safely recorded, so automation never slows down quoting - and QuotWay only sends references and summary fields to Flow, never card or secret data.

  1. 1

    Install Shopify Flow

It’s a free first-party app; add it from the Shopify App Store.

  2. 2

    Create a workflow

In Shopify, open Flow → Create workflow.

  3. 3

    Choose a QuotWay trigger

Search QuotWay and pick an event, for example Quote accepted.

  4. 4

    Add a condition (optional)

Branch on a field like Total amount or Currency code to act only on the quotes you mean.

  5. 5

Add actions and turn it on

Add a Shopify action (Slack, email, customer tags) and/or a QuotWay action, then switch the workflow on.

Questions, answered

Does QuotWay work with Shopify Flow?

Yes. QuotWay provides Shopify Flow triggers - quote events such as submitted, proposal sent, countered, accepted, declined, expired, converted, and approval requested/granted/rejected - and Shopify Flow actions that update a quote’s status, assign it to staff, or send a message. Triggers are available on Professional and up; actions on Enterprise.

Do I need Shopify Plus to use QuotWay with Flow?

No. Shopify Flow is free on every paid Shopify plan, and QuotWay’s Flow triggers and actions work on any paid Shopify plan - they are not limited to Shopify Plus. The Professional and Enterprise requirements are QuotWay plan tiers, separate from your Shopify plan.

What’s the difference between Flow triggers and actions?

A trigger is a QuotWay quote event that starts a Flow workflow (Professional+). An action is a step a workflow runs back in QuotWay - update status, assign to staff, or send a message (Enterprise). A workflow can use both: a quote event triggers it, and a QuotWay action is one of its steps.

Is this the same as QuotWay’s built-in automation rules?

No. QuotWay’s automation rules are a built-in engine inside the QuotWay admin. The Shopify Flow integration connects quotes to Shopify’s own Flow tool, where you can combine QuotWay with Slack, email, customer tags, and other apps. Use whichever fits - or both.

Does QuotWay offer a public API or outbound webhooks?

Not yet - a public API is coming soon. Today, the supported way to automate across apps is Shopify Flow.
